Tokyo - May 13, 2004, JCB Co., Ltd., a
leading international payment brand, and
the Japan Department Stores Association
are cooperating in a joint promotion, the
Shopping Paradise for Everyone Campaign
for 2 months from 29 April to 30 June 2004.
The campaign will award a total of 21 million
yen in prizes to customers at the 279 stores
nationwide owned by the association's 99
department store company members. This
is Japan's first joint promotion ever conducted
nationally by department stores and an
international credit card brand.
This campaign offers every department
store customer a chance to win one of ten
1,000,000 yen department store gift certificates
by mailing in a post card with the answer
to a simple quiz.
In addition, JCB cardmembers receive one
chance to win one of two hundred 50,000
yen JCB gift certificates with every 10,000
yen worth of purchases at the association's
department stores by their JCB credit card
after registering on the JCB home page
at www.jcb.co.jp/campaign/hyakkaten.html.
However, JCB cardmembers with JCB cards
issued outside Japan do not need to register,
as JCB will automatically tally up shopping
records at the department stores in Japan
during the campaign period, and enter qualified
cardmembers in the lottery.
There is one more special chance for JCB
optional payment program cardmembers to
win one of a hundred 10,000 yen gift certificates.
This is one of JCB's convenient payment
programs, where cardmembers can set a fixed
monthly payment amount for their accounts
over the internet or with a single call
to JCB.
While publicity in Japan will be focused
through JCB and the Japan Department Stores
Association's domestic customer channels,
JCB will be implementing the promotion
as a brand campaign worldwide, using local
issuer channels to target JCB cardmembers
overseas who will be traveling to Japan
during the campaign period and to increase
the JCB brand presense worldwide. JCB estimates
the resulting increase in sales volume
will top 3.5 billion yen, as well as contributing
to stimulating the local economy throughout
Japan.
